evolving preferences of SEE graduates and the growing prominence of Plus Two education in Butwal. He argues that students should select colleges only after carefully evaluating academic quality, teaching staff, counselling support, facilities, cost, distance, and their personal career aspirations—rather than being swayed by infrastructure alone or by peer pressure. Banjade compares Butwal favourably with Kathmandu, noting comparable opportunities, more affordable fees, and robust entrance preparation. He also addresses subject selection, emphasizing student interest, parental guidance, expert counselling, dedication, and hard work as the foundations for future success in science, management, law, and technical careers, both within Nepal and abroad.
After the SEE results, some local institutions claim that students benefit more by completing Grades Eleven and Twelve nearby. How do you view this trend?
Students have the right to choose a college according to their understanding, interests, circumstances, and future plans. In the past, many SEE graduates made last-minute decisions to go to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, or other cities. That tendency has noticeably declined in Butwal. Students are increasingly choosing to stay here because local colleges have improved significantly. I do not believe students should be compelled to remain in Butwal; however, the quality of education, infrastructure, counselling, motivation, and improved services available here are naturally persuading many of them to pursue Plus Two locally.
Butwal is often described as an education hub second only to Kathmandu. Can the quality of its Plus Two education be compared with that of Kathmandu?
Yes, certainly. In terms of academic results and overall quality, Butwal is already on par with Kathmandu. In the past, Kathmandu held the advantage of offering specialised pre-medical and pre-engineering courses; today, Butwal provides these facilities as well. Local colleges design and conduct entrance-oriented classes systematically. Whereas colleges in Kathmandu often charge considerably higher fees, those in Butwal offer comparable quality at more affordable rates. We also operate in accordance with local educational regulations. Considering fees, services, facilities, and academic outcomes, I firmly believe that Butwal is a strong choice.
What should students and guardians consider before choosing a Plus Two institution?
They should look beyond impressive buildings. While such infrastructure does matter, it alone is not sufficient. Students must carefully assess how cooperative and dedicated the teachers are, whether the environment is student-friendly, and whether the fees are reasonable. A grand structure or a long-established name does not teach by itself; teachers teach, and students learn through proper guidance and self-study. For Grades Eleven and Twelve, factors such as comfort, distance, family budget, academic support, and a familiar environment also play an important role. Rather than blindly following their friends, students should examine each college thoroughly and choose the one where they can genuinely focus on their studies.
Subject selection is equally important. How should students decide among science, management, law, humanities, or other streams?
The foremost priority should be the student’s own interest and aspiration. A student may wish to become a doctor, engineer, agriculturist, veterinary doctor, paramedic, nurse, IT professional, chartered accountant, banker, or a leader in any other field. The chosen stream should align with that aspiration. Subsequently, students should consult their parents and teachers, who understand their strengths well. If they still remain uncertain, they should seek counselling from college experts. Such counselling helps them identify clearly which course leads towards medicine, engineering, B.Sc., CA, banking, or other career paths.
Many students are now drawn to IT. What opportunities do the different streams offer?
IT has indeed become highly attractive. Students can pursue IT through computer science within either the management or science streams. Science, in particular, offers a wide range of possibilities. In Nepal, after completing Plus Two in science, students can enter numerous technical programmes, including engineering, paramedical studies, applied sciences, and IT-related fields. Management also offers a variety of bachelor’s-level options, both in Nepal and abroad. Many of our students go on to study in Australia, the United States, or elsewhere, so Plus Two education must prepare them for both national and international opportunities.
Some students dream of becoming doctors or engineers but may not be equally strong in every subject. Is desire alone enough?
Desire alone is not sufficient, but desire combined with dedication can achieve a great deal. Nothing is impossible when a student possesses commitment, hard work, perseverance, and discipline. The world has progressed because human beings have worked with determination. We have witnessed students who struggled in Plus Two—some even taking additional time to pass certain subjects—later go on to become accomplished doctors, engineers, nurses, and IT professionals. If a student is truly committed to their chosen goal, difficulties may arise along the way, but success is certainly attainable.
How does Scholars Home support students who arrive with such dreams?
Scholars Home has been engaged in Plus Two education for approximately ten years. Many of our former students have gone on to study at reputed universities both in Nepal and abroad. Our goal is for every student to achieve something meaningful through technical education or scholarship opportunities. Accordingly, we motivate our students, plan quality instruction, and provide additional academic support. We offer free preparation classes for CA, medical, engineering, nursing, and other entrance examinations, all delivered by experienced teaching teams. We strive to offer students something additional and distinctive. That said, the student’s own desire remains essential. Even a great scientist like Albert Einstein could not have succeeded if forced into a field that went against his nature. Therefore, we encourage, counsel, guide, and repeatedly remind our students, “You can do it.”
Finally, what message would you like to give to SEE graduates and their guardians?
Scholars Home offers Plus Two programmes in science, management, hotel management, computer science, and law, and we remain committed to providing affordable, quality education. My request to students and parents is simple: do not remain confused, and do not select a college based on rumours, peer pressure, or the appeal of advertisements alone. Visit the colleges in person, evaluate their teachers, academic results, counselling support, facilities, fees, and overall environment. Choose your institution freely, wisely, and in line with your aspirations. With the right college, the right subject, sincere hard work, and proper guidance, students can build excellent futures right here in Butwal.
