PABSON Mobilises Rs 208.9 Million for Flood Relief and School Recovery

KATHMANDU: The Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal (PABSON) has mobilised Rs 208,902,970 to support families affected by the Bhotekoshi floods and help damaged schools recover, the organisation announced at a press conference on Thursday.
The nationwide fundraising campaign began on Bhadra 11, a day after devastating floods struck the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district. Member schools, teachers, staff, students, parents and well-wishers contributed to the effort, which aims to support relief and rehabilitation.
Rs 188.9 million contributed to the Prime Minister’s disaster relief fund through PABSON and its member schools.
According to PABSON, Rs 120 million was handed over to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund through then Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle on Bhadra 26. A further Rs 33,902,970 was transferred to the fund through Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel on Asoj 7.
Member schools also deposited Rs 35 million directly into the fund.
Rs 20 million earmarked for five flood-damaged schools, with further educational support pledged for affected children.
Alongside those contributions, PABSON has earmarked Rs 20 million for five schools in the affected area. Three were completely destroyed, while two sustained partial damage, the organisation said.
The school allocation forms part of a broader commitment to help children whose education has been disrupted by the floods. PABSON said it would provide further educational assistance as needed to support their return to learning.
The organisation said its responsibilities extend beyond the development of education to working with the government and communities during national disasters and emergencies.
PABSON thanked school operators, teachers, staff, students, parents and other contributors for supporting the campaign.
