International Conference on AI in Computational Science and Engineering Concludes in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU — The International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Computational Science and Engineering (IC-AICSE 2026) concluded in Budhanilkantha on Wednesday, bringing together researchers, educators and engineering professionals to discuss technological advances and their potential in Nepal.

Everest Engineering College organized the conference in partnership with the Himalayan Institute of Science and Technology. Prof. Dr. Chandra Mani Poudel, Chairperson of Bagmati University, attended as chief guest and unveiled an abstract book containing summaries of the research papers during the inaugural session.

International participation: The conference brought together 220 participants from Nepal and abroad.

Keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. Daniel Oluwasegun Adams of the University of Agriculture in Nigeria, Prof. Dr. Adebayo Abayomi-Alli from Lithuania, Prof. Dr. Kyung Y. Bae from South Korea, and Dr. Sojen Pradhan of the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

During the opening session, OPEN President Nawaraj Pandey, a CAN representative, IEEE Women in Engineering Chairperson Dr. Pratima Pradhan, international delegates and representatives of the organizing institutions addressed the development and prospects of artificial intelligence, computational science and engineering in Nepal.

Research exchange: Participants presented 39 research papers across four parallel technical sessions.

The sessions were chaired by Dr. Bipun Man Pati of ACEM, Dr. Tusita Chandani Shahi of Nepal Engineering College, Dr. Kamal Lamichhane of Nepal Telecom, and Dr. Sunil Chaudhary of Everest Engineering College.

Conference Member Secretary Associate Professor Er. Rajan Lama and Er. Charchit Nagila, representing the co-organizer, welcomed participants. Er. Prakriti Giri and Er. Jasmi Khadka jointly hosted the proceedings. Various institutions provided technical and financial support for the event.

Professional recognition: The Nepal Engineering Council recognized paper presentations as equivalent to one hour of Continuing Professional Development.

At the closing ceremony, the co-organizer, sponsors, session chairs and co-chairs were honoured for their contributions. The chief guest presented certificates to the keynote speakers, while the session chairs distributed certificates to research paper presenters.

Conference Chair and College Principal Prof. Dr. Hari Krishna Shrestha and Chief Administrative Officer Arun Kumar Bhandari jointly presented certificates to other contributors. Shrestha concluded the event by thanking the researchers, supporting institutions and organizing team.
