HSMSS Guides, Protects and Inspires Students with Discipline and Values

Under the leadership of Principal Puran Bahadur Joshi, Hetauda School of Management and Social Sciences has grown from a modest institution of 22 students into a trusted academic community serving more than 2,500 learners. In this conversation with College Readers, Joshi explains how quality education, discipline, cultural values and student-centered mentoring have shaped the school’s identity. He reflects on institutional achievements, alumni success in medicine, engineering, administration and public service, and the need for early preparation for competitive careers. He also offers practical advice to SEE graduates and parents seeking the right +2 institution for academic excellence, character building and future readiness in an increasingly competitive educational landscape today.

Vision into Reality

I feel satisfied with Hetauda School of Management and Social Sciences. When we began, we had only 22 students and a clear dream: to build an institution that could provide quality education while nurturing personal growth, discipline and professional confidence. Today, with more than 2,500 students, the trust of parents has become our biggest achievement.

I do not say that every goal has been completed, because education is always a continuing mission. However, we have made progress. Our vision was to create a center of academic excellence, holistic development and leadership. Their performance, confidence and success show that we are moving in the right direction.

Student Success

Our students have proved themselves in many areas. Many are now pursuing or serving in medicine, engineering, administration, public service, business and other professional sectors. Their success is not accidental. It comes from a learning culture where discipline, hard work and moral values are practiced daily.

I strongly believe that education without values remains incomplete. Where cultural values are respected, discipline becomes natural. Where discipline is strong, students become focused, responsible and capable of facing life’s challenges. This is the foundation behind our students’ achievements.

Beyond the Curriculum

We believe classroom teaching alone is not enough. Students must be exposed to real life, professional ideas and practical skills. Therefore, we organize expert-led training sessions twice a year, inviting professionals from different sectors. These programs help students understand the world beyond textbooks.

We also encourage competitions, co-curricular activities, leadership programs and skill development sessions. Our teachers receive regular training and remain updated with new teaching methods and industry trends. They use practical assignments and creative tasks to make learning more meaningful. Our focus is not only to help students pass examinations but to prepare them with knowledge, confidence and competence.

The Right Choice

Students should choose an institution that guides, protects and inspires them. At HSMSS, our three pillars are quality education, discipline and cultural values. These are not slogans; they are part of our daily practice.

We follow a student-centered approach. Every student comes with different strengths, weaknesses and backgrounds. If a student lacks discipline or faces behavioral challenges, we do not reject them. We counsel them, guide them and help them grow into responsible individuals. Education should build both academic capacity and character.

Our environment is safe, structured and nurturing. Students get support from trained teachers, mentoring systems and co-curricular opportunities. Our alumni record in medicine, engineering, civil service, business and other areas gives confidence to families. We prepare students not only for exams but for life.

Choosing +2 Wisely

Students and parents should not choose a college only by looking at advertisements, buildings or popularity. They should examine whether the institution has strict academic policies, disciplined management, qualified teachers, modern facilities and a caring environment.

Teachers are important, but teachers alone cannot produce results if the environment is weak. I often compare it with a computer. Teachers are like software, but management, discipline and infrastructure are like hardware. Both must function together.

Students should also look at classroom technology, affordability and value for money. A good institution should match the family’s financial capacity while maintaining quality. The right +2 college provides academic strength, personal care and a strong base for higher education.

Medical and Engineering Dreams

Becoming a doctor or engineer is not possible through two or three months of hurried preparation. It requires a strong foundation from the beginning. That is why we have designed a structured program starting from Grade 11, with four hours of daily preparation focused on entrance examinations.

We also emphasize that students must first complete the +2 curriculum strongly. Without a solid base, entrance preparation becomes weak. Over the past two years, we have developed specialized sections according to students’ interests and career goals. We invite subject experts from Kathmandu for focused guidance in both NEB courses and entrance preparation.

This support is exclusively designed for our students. Our aim is to provide them with the right direction, resources, discipline and confidence so that they can compete in medical, engineering and other demanding fields.

Message to Students

My message is simple: choose wisely, work sincerely and remain disciplined. +2 education is not just a bridge between school and university; it is the stage where students build habits, confidence and career direction. Do not run only after names. Look for an institution that understands you, guides you and prepares you for the future.

At Hetauda School of Management and Social Sciences, we are committed to helping students discover their potential. With quality education, cultural values, disciplined learning and continuous mentoring, we want to produce not only doctors and engineers, but responsible citizens and future leaders.
