HISSAN and TULBTRC Sign MoU to Bolster Blood Donation and Research Collaboration

KATHMANDU — Higher and Secondary Schools Association Nepal (HISAN) and Tribhuvan University Lions Blood Transfusion and Research Center (TULBTRC) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand mutual cooperation in the fields of health, education, and social service.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held on Friday at the Capital College and Research Center (CCRC) in Kathmandu. Dr. Rajendra Giri, Chairman of the Center, and Yuvraj Sharma, President of HISAN, formalized the partnership on behalf of their respective organizations.
Key Highlights of the Agreement
- Three-Year Term: The partnership is set for an initial duration of three years.
- Strategic Cooperation: Focuses on regular blood donation drives, awareness programs, and engaging students in social service and "On-the-Job Training" (OJT).
- Technical Management: TULBTRC will be responsible for providing technical staff, equipment, blood collection, testing, and transportation logistics.
- Unified Commitment: Both entities pledged to ensure a safe and high-quality blood supply through joint efforts in education, health, and research.
Strengthening Community Ties
President Yuvraj Sharma, Senior Vice President Dr. Swagat Shrestha, Vice President Harichandra Lamichhane and General Secretary Ram Hari Silwal from HISSAN, and former Chairman Rudrahari Gyawali, Medical Director Dr. Bipin Nepal, and Acting General Manager Komal Adhikari from the Research Center were present in the MOU ceremony.
The agreement aims to institutionalize sustainable blood donation programs across educational institutions affiliated with HISAN. By involving students in these initiatives, the organizers hope to foster a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility from a young age.
Immediate Impact
To mark the signing of the MoU, a joint blood donation drive was organized at CCRC College on the same day. According to a press release issued by the Center, 91 donors participated voluntarily. Notably, a day prior to the event, student clubs from the college organized a rally to raise community awareness and encourage local participation.
Both organizations expressed their commitment to expanding this collaboration into financial support and broader social research in the coming years to ensure a reliable and safe blood supply system for the public.
