+2 Education: A Foundational Step Toward a Meaningful Future

As Nepal's education system continues to evolve, the significance of the +2 level as a crucial stepping stone toward academic and professional success has never been clearer. Despite ongoing challenges, including the recent fluctuations in SEE results, +2 education remains an essential phase for shaping students’ futures. At the heart of this educational mission is Ed-Mark Academy, Kalanki—an institution committed to providing a holistic, future-focused learning environment under the capable leadership of Principal Shiva Prasad Adhikari.

SEE Results: A Turning Point for +2 Institutions

The recent SEE results, with a national pass percentage of 61.81%, have brought a renewed sense of hope and direction for +2 institutions across Nepal. Compared to last year’s pass rate of 47.86%, this year’s results signify a remarkable improvement in student performance, preparedness, and academic momentum. While previous years had cast a shadow of uncertainty over +2 enrollments due to lower pass rates, this year’s outcome is a clear indicator that more students are ready to take the next academic step.

Principal Shiva Adhikari sees this as an opportunity. “The increased pass rate means more students are eligible to pursue +2 education. For Ed-Mark Academy, it aligns perfectly with our mission—to guide and empower students through meaningful education that blends academic strength with life skills.”

This rise in pass percentage not only assures a stronger enrollment base but also creates room for diverse talents to explore their interests and careers through structured +2 programs.

Why +2 Education Matters Now More Than Ever

In the present academic context, +2 education is more than just a transitional phase between secondary school and higher education—it is a crucial foundation. It is during these two years that students begin to shape their interests, develop critical thinking, and prepare for the future—whether it be university education or skill-based careers.

“At Ed-Mark Academy,” says Principal Adhikari, “we emphasize not just on grades but on nurturing well-rounded individuals. Education should involve developing skills, cultivating positive attitudes, appreciating culture, and responsibly using technology.”

The Academy offers an environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged to grow intellectually and personally. A focus on discipline, personal attention, and extracurricular engagement ensures students are not just prepared academically, but also mentally and emotionally equipped for life beyond school.

Role of NEB, Parents, and Schools in Student Development

Mr. Adhikari welcomes the NEB's firm stance on pass/fail criteria, noting that it will instill seriousness in students toward their studies. However, he also emphasizes that academic success is a shared responsibility. “Schools must deliver quality education, but parents must also invest emotionally and morally in their children. The foundation of discipline and morality begins at home.”

He raises a serious concern about student mental health, citing the disturbing rise in youth suicides. “This is not just a school problem—it’s a societal one. Schools must create a nurturing space, but families must instill strong values early on.”

Study Habits, Technology, and Student Priorities

Modern students are surrounded by distractions, especially technology and mobile phones—a trend that escalated during the pandemic. Mr. Adhikari admits this shift has impacted study habits. “Students are increasingly drawn to entertainment over academics. While extracurricular activities are important, we must bring students back to a balance, where education remains a central pillar.”

He stresses the need to build good study habits by choosing subjects based on passion rather than pressure. “High grades are not the only measure of success. Students must follow their interests and make informed decisions about their careers.”

Choosing the Right +2 School and Subject

For students who have just completed SEE, choosing the right +2 school is a critical decision. According to Mr. Adhikari, “Students and parents should consider factors such as the location of the school, affordability, experienced faculty, academic results, and the school’s ability to meet student expectations.”

He advises against choosing institutions solely based on peer influence or flashy marketing. Instead, students should evaluate whether a school provides the necessary academic support, exposure to co-curricular development, and the right environment to explore their potential.

At Ed-Mark Academy, the goal is to strike this balance. With affordable fee structures, experienced faculty, and a prime location in Kalanki, the school stands out as a reliable and student-friendly institution. Its modest size allows for better student-teacher interaction and a personalized approach to education.

A Message to SEE Graduates

As students prepare to enter the next phase of their academic journey, Mr. Adhikari offers sincere advice: “Be clear about your goals. Choose subjects that inspire you. Remember, success is built on four pillars—morality, discipline, knowledge, and hard work. Don’t be swayed by trends or peer pressure. Make your choices wisely.”

He also reminds students and parents to consider the long-term implications of their educational decisions. “Patriotism starts with investing in yourself and your country. If we want to stop the trend of brain drain, we must build strong institutions here and encourage students to see their future in Nepal.”

Ed-Mark Academy: A Trusted Name in +2 Education

With a growing number of SEE graduates eligible for +2, Ed-Mark Academy is well-prepared to welcome new students. The school prides itself on offering a comprehensive education that goes beyond textbooks—focusing on values, leadership, creativity, and academic rigor.

“We believe in providing students with not just knowledge, but direction,” says Mr. Adhikari. “Our doors are open to all students who want to build a solid foundation for their future. We invite SEE graduates and their guardians to visit Ed-Mark Academy and see firsthand the environment we have built.”
