The National Examination Board (NEB) has officially published the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2082, revealing a notable improvement in student performance compared to previous years. According to the results announced on Monday evening, 65.98 percent of students who appeared in the examination obtained graded results.
A total of 430,667 students participated in this year’s SEE examination, among whom 284,160 students achieved graded results, while 146,507 students were categorized as non-graded (NG).
The highest number of students fell under the GPA range of 3.60 to 4.00, with 48,392 students securing distinction-level scores. Similarly, 80,372 students obtained GPA between 3.20 and 3.60, while 94,222 students scored between 2.80 and 3.20. Another 55,977 students achieved GPA between 2.40 and 2.80. The Board reported that 5,190 students secured GPA between 2.00 and 2.40, whereas only seven students scored between 1.60 and 2.00.
Education officials stated that this year’s results indicate a substantial improvement over last year’s SEE examination. In 2080, only 47.86 percent of students had achieved graded results, while more than half of the examinees were categorized as non-graded. The steady rise in pass percentages for the second consecutive year has been viewed as a positive sign for Nepal’s education sector.
Province-wise data showed that Madhesh Province recorded the highest number of non-graded students, with 31,725 students falling into the NG category out of 76,317 participants. Koshi Province had 21,366 non-graded students, while Bagmati recorded 21,704 and Gandaki Province 9,943.
The Board has also announced that supplementary examinations for non-graded students will begin from Asar 1. The detailed examination schedule is expected to be published soon.
Meanwhile, the government’s decision to publish the SEE results within a month of the examination completion has drawn widespread attention. The examinations, which began on Chaitra 19 and concluded on Chaitra 29, had traditionally required several months for result publication in previous years. This year, however, the results were released even earlier than the announced deadline.
Officials from the Examination Control Office credited the timely publication to continuous efforts by employees and teachers involved in answer sheet evaluation and result processing. Staff members reportedly worked extended hours without taking leave for nearly a month to complete the process within the targeted timeframe.
Another major factor behind the speedy publication was the implementation of answer sheet checking directly at examination centers. Teachers began evaluating answer sheets immediately after subject-wise examinations concluded, allowing the Board to complete result processing in record time.
