KATHMANDU – In a strategic move to reconcile government mandates with academic reality, College Readers, in collaboration with Nepal’s leading educational bodies—HISSAN, PABSON, and N-PABSAN—is set to host a high-level panel discussion titled “School Education: Challenges and Probable Way Forward.”

The event is scheduled for Baishakh 6, 2083 (April 19, 2026), at 3:00 PM at Kumari Hall, Islington College, Dhobidhara.

The forum arrives at a critical juncture for Nepal’s academic sector. While the government recently pledged massive long-term investments to ensure free and compulsory school education, the sector remains embroiled in a "policy storm." Inconsistent localized directives, scholarship viability issues, and the government's recently announced delay of the academic session have fueled a climate of uncertainty for parents and school operators alike.

According to organizers, the program aims to cut through "media trials" and political noise that have dominated recent public discourse. By convening experts and stakeholders on a single, credible platform, the event seeks to replace sensationalism with professional, evidence-based solutions.

Bhawani Prasad Paudel, Coordinator of the Organizing Committee, underscored the urgency of the dialogue. "The education sector currently faces a complex web of challenges and ambiguities," Paudel stated. "Through this panel, we aim to present a clear roadmap and practical solutions that prioritize the future of our students over bureaucratic friction."

Ram Hari Silwal, General Secretary of HISSAN, emphasized the media's responsibility in shaping public perception. "The media’s role is crucial in bringing these policy shifts into a responsible public debate. We invite all journalists to join us in bringing much-needed clarity to the public," Silwal remarked, urging a shift away from "narrative convenience."

Reiterating the mission of the event, Jeetendra Ghimire, CEO of College Readers, noted that open dialogue is the only way to resolve the current crisis. "School education is facing unprecedented hurdles. It is vital for all stakeholders to engage. Our goal is to provide clear perspectives and a definitive roadmap for the future," Ghimire said.
