Results don’t Happen by Accident; Ours Stem from Experience, Discipline, and Direction

Why should students study at Lalitpur NIST?

Lalitpur NIST is not just another Plus Two institution; it carries a strong academic legacy. The college was established by senior scientists of the Government of Nepal, including Dr. Madhav Prasad Baral and Dr. Pitambar Man Pradhan, at a time when the concept of private Plus Two education was emerging in Nepal. I myself was a student of this college 30 years ago, and it is a matter of pride that many teachers who taught me are still teaching here. This continuity gives NIST a unique academic culture. Our motto is academic excellence with a medium fee structure. We believe quality education should be serious, disciplined and accessible. Lalitpur NIST has been conducting Plus Two programs in Science and Management for around three decades, and we also offer Law.

What makes NIST different from other Plus Two colleges?

Our greatest strength is our experienced faculty and result-oriented academic system. Many people know NIST for Science because the full name itself is National Institute of Science and Technology. However, NIST is equally committed to Management and Law. Every year, we enroll eight sections in Science, five in Management, and one in Law. In Science, many of our students succeed in medical and engineering entrance examinations. In the past five years, Lalitpur NIST has produced a remarkable number of students securing scholarships in medicine from Lalitpur district. This is not an accidental achievement. It is the result of planning, teacher dedication, regular monitoring and entrance-focused preparation.

What facilities is the college providing for students to study well?

A good college must provide more than classrooms. At Lalitpur NIST, we provide a disciplined academic environment, experienced teachers, regular internal assessments, library support, laboratory facilities, counseling, academic guidance and extra support classes whenever required. Students need proper resources, but they also need proper supervision. We focus on both. For Science students, practical laboratory learning is very important. For Management students, case-based learning, presentation, communication and analytical skills matter. For Law students, debate, legal awareness, reasoning and writing skills are essential. We design our teaching support according to the nature of each stream.

What plan has NIST initiated to integrate modern teaching-learning activities?

Modern teaching cannot be limited to lecture-based instruction. Students today need interaction, digital exposure, presentation skills, research habits and career orientation. At NIST, we are gradually integrating technology-supported learning, multimedia use, subject-wise presentations, entrance preparation, counseling sessions, group activities and practical assignments. Our aim is to connect textbook knowledge with competitive exams and real-life application. We also encourage teachers to use updated teaching methods. The classroom should not be a one-way communication space. It should be a place where students ask, analyze, discuss and build confidence.

What common mistakes do students make while selecting subjects and institutions for Plus Two study?

The biggest mistake is choosing a subject by following friends, social pressure or family prestige without understanding one’s own interest and ability. Some students select Science only because it is considered prestigious, while some choose Management or Law without knowing their future scope. Another mistake is looking only at buildings, advertisements or temporary attraction while choosing a college. Students and parents must examine teaching quality, faculty experience, academic environment, discipline, past results, counseling system and institutional commitment. Plus Two is a foundation level. A wrong decision at this stage can create confusion in higher studies and career planning.

How should parents support students during this transition after SEE?

Parents should guide, not impose. After SEE, students are excited but also confused. They hear many opinions from relatives, friends, advertisements and social media. Parents should help them understand their strengths, weaknesses, interests and long-term goals. They should visit colleges, interact with faculty members, understand the academic system and then make a decision. The right college is not always the most expensive or most advertised one. The right college is the one that can monitor, mentor and motivate the student properly.

What is your advice to students aspiring to study in Grade Eleven?

My advice is simple: choose your subject with clarity and your institution with careful observation. Do not run after fashion. Ask yourself where you want to go after two years. If you choose Science, be ready for discipline, hard work and entrance preparation. If you choose Management, develop analytical thinking, communication and leadership. If you choose Law, build reading, reasoning and argumentation skills. Grade Eleven is the beginning of a serious academic journey. At Lalitpur NIST, we are ready to guide students who are sincere, hardworking and committed to their future.

Finally, how would you define Lalitpur NIST in one sentence?

Lalitpur NIST is an institution built on academic legacy, experienced teaching, affordable excellence and a clear commitment to shaping students for higher education, professional success and responsible citizenship.
