HETAUDA — Makawanpur Multiple Campus has concluded a three-day workshop on scientific paper writing and bibliometric analysis, aimed at strengthening research competence and promoting quality academic publication among faculty members and researchers.

The workshop, titled “Scientific Paper Writing with Bibliometric Analysis,” brought together 47 participants from the University Grants Commission Nepal, Purbanchal University, Aadikavi Bhanubhakta Campus, Waling Multiple Campus and Makawanpur Multiple Campus.

Organised under the theme “Enhancing Research Skills, Promoting Quality Publications,” the programme focused on developing participants’ capacity to conduct systematic research, prepare scientific papers and use modern digital tools, including artificial intelligence, in academic work.

During the training, experts provided practical guidance on the structure of scientific papers, appropriate use of citations and references, academic integrity and plagiarism prevention. Participants were also introduced to bibliometric analysis—a technology-based method used to examine global research trends, analyse scholarly data and map relationships among publications, authors, institutions and research areas.

The workshop equipped participants with practical skills in scientific writing, bibliometric analysis and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in academic research.

The workshop encouraged participants to integrate research, writing and publication into their regular academic responsibilities. It was conducted with the active involvement of the campus’s Research Management Cell, which sought to motivate faculty members to produce credible research and publish their findings on recognised academic platforms.

Participants said the programme had enhanced their understanding of emerging research methods and strengthened their ability to use artificial intelligence and other digital technologies while preparing research papers. They expressed confidence that the knowledge and practical skills gained from the workshop would soon contribute to improved research activities and publications at their respective institutions.

Representatives attending the programme included Mamata Prajapati from the University Grants Commission Nepal; Sonila Shakya, assistant dean of the Faculty of Management at Purbanchal University; Purbanchal University faculty member Pradip KC; Aadikavi Bhanubhakta Campus Chief Maha Prasad Hadkhale; Waling Multiple Campus Chief Bishnu Subedi Gaire; and Research Management Cell Coordinator Raju Aryal. Faculty members and employees of Makawanpur Multiple Campus also participated.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Ashok Shakya, vice-chairperson of the Campus Management Committee, said Makawanpur Multiple Campus had accorded high priority to research and development.

Distributing certificates to the participants, Shakya expressed satisfaction over the continuous improvement in the research capacity of the campus’s faculty members and employees. He said institutional progress in higher education required sustained investment in research, innovation and professional development.

Makawanpur Multiple Campus has placed research and professional development at the centre of its efforts to improve academic quality and institutional capacity.

Aadikavi Bhanubhakta Campus Chief Hadkhale and Waling Multiple Campus Chief Gaire described the workshop as highly effective, saying its practical sessions had generated significant learning outcomes for the participants.

UGC representative Prajapati said the programme had been productive and added that the commission had been encouraging higher education institutions to organise similar activities to improve research culture and academic quality.

Dr Niranjan Devkota, the principal resource person for the workshop, said additional training programmes would be conducted in phases to further develop participants’ research writing and publication skills. Dhan Bahadur DB and M. D. Rahman also served as resource persons during the programme.

The opening and closing sessions were chaired by Makawanpur Multiple Campus Chief Prof. Dr Yam Bahadur Silwal.

The campus said the initiative formed part of its broader effort to institutionalise research, strengthen academic writing and enable teachers and researchers to contribute more effectively to national and international scholarly publications.
