GoldenGate’s Future-Ready Vision for Academic Excellence, Innovation, and Global Competence

Laxman Pokharel, CEO of GoldenGate International College, shares his vision of transforming the institution into a future-ready, student-centered learning ecosystem. In this interview, he highlights academic excellence, innovation, digital learning, industry collaboration, internships, career guidance, and holistic personality development as key priorities. Pokharel emphasizes that GoldenGate will prepare students not only for examinations but also for global opportunities, professional confidence, leadership, entrepreneurship, and responsible citizenship, aiming to become a benchmark institution in Nepal’s higher education within five years ahead.

1. Could you take us back to the beginning of your academic and professional journey, and share what first inspired you to enter the field of education?

Education has always inspired me because it shapes not only careers but society itself. My journey began with a strong belief that young people need the right environment to discover their potential. Over time, working in academics, management, and entrepreneurship strengthened my commitment to creating institutions that prepare students for life, not just exams and grades. Young people today need more than classrooms; they need direction, opportunities, and an ecosystem where their potential can flourish. This realization inspired me to dedicate my career to building institutions that bridge education with real-world success.

2. You have recently joined GoldenGate International College as CEO. What is your vision and strategic plan to make GoldenGate a more advanced and student-centered learning institution?

My vision for GoldenGate International College is to make it a future-ready institution where academic excellence is matched by innovation, creativity, and student empowerment. With my vision GGIC will transform into one of Nepal’s most progressive learning ecosystems. Our strategic focus is on three pillars: future-ready education, student empowerment, and institutional excellence. We are focused on upgrading learning systems, integrating technology, and creating a more student-centered culture that prepares learners for global opportunities. GoldenGate will evolve as a student-centered institution where every learner feels inspired to dream bigger.

3. You have reached this leadership position after successfully handling various educational institutions. What specifically motivated you to join GoldenGate International College at this stage of your career?

GoldenGate has a strong legacy and enormous potential. At this stage of my career, I wanted to contribute to an institution where transformation can create a larger impact. I saw GoldenGate as a place where experience, innovation, and vision can come together to shape the future of higher education. My experience in building academic systems, driving institutional growth, and connecting education with industry can create an impact to transform GGIC.

4. How can students and parents trust that GoldenGate International College will leave no stone unturned in helping students achieve their academic and career goals?

Trust is built through results, transparency, commitment and contineous improvement. At GoldenGate, we believe students are not just enrolled learners; they are future professionals, innovators, and leaders. We are committed to supporting students beyond academics; through mentorship, career guidance, industry exposure, emotional support, skill development and personal growth. Our goal is to ensure every student is prepared for both higher studies and successful careers. Every policy we introduce, every program we design, and every partnership we build is centered on one goal: helping students identify and explore their highest potential.

5. Education today is rapidly evolving with technology and innovation. How do you plan to integrate modern teaching methodologies, digital learning, and practical exposure at GoldenGate?

The future of education is hybrid, experiential, and technology-driven. Traditional teaching alone is no longer enough. Thus, education today must be interactive, practical, and technology driven. At GoldenGate, we are strengthening digital learning, smart classrooms, project-based teaching, and real-world exposure. Students must graduate with knowledge, skills, and the confidence to thrive in a changing world.

6. Students today seek not only academic excellence but also personality development and career readiness. How will GoldenGate address these expectations under your leadership?

Today’s students need holistic development. Alongside academics, we are emphasizing innovation, leadership, communication, entrepreneurship, and career readiness. GoldenGate will create opportunities for students to grow as confident individuals ready to lead and innovate. Our aim is to produce graduates who are not only degree holders but confident professionals ready to lead in any field they choose.

7. How important is industry collaboration, internships, and practical learning in higher education today, and what are your plans in this area?

Industry collaboration is essential in contemporary education. We are actively building stronger partnerships with industries and organizations to provide internships, practical projects, and professional networking. This will help students connect classroom learning with real career pathways. From classroom to boardroom is the fundamental concept that I have been advocating since few years. Education becomes meaningful when students can apply classroom concepts to real world challenges. We want our graduates to enter the workforce with experience, confidence, and a professional network during the study.

8. What changes or improvements can students expect to see at GoldenGate International College in the coming years?

Students can expect a more dynamic learning environment, stronger academic systems, enhanced career support, greater national and international exposure, and more opportunities for innovation, research, and extracurricular engagement. Our aim is to create an inspiring ecosystem for growth in every student at GGIC. We are also working to build stronger student communities through clubs, competitions, research initiatives, entrepreneurship programs, and interdisciplinary projects.

9. Looking ahead five years from now, where do you envision GoldenGate International College standing in Nepal’s higher education landscape?

In the next five years, I see GoldenGate International College as a benchmark institution in Nepal  known for academic excellence, innovation, and producing globally competent graduates. Our goal is to position GoldenGate as a leading institution that empowers the next generation of leaders and changemakers. We will be producing future-ready graduates, innovators, and responsible leaders. Our ambition is to create an institution that inspires the youth of Nepal to compete confidently on a global stage while remaining rooted in values, ethics, and social responsibility.
The future belongs to institutions that can adapt, innovate, and empower. GoldenGate is ready to be one of them in next five years.
