Sukuna Multiple Campus: Building Academic Excellence, Employability, and Community Leadership in Eastern Nepal

As the Campus Chief of Sukuna Multiple Campus, I take immense pride in witnessing the remarkable journey of an institution that was established in 2048 B.S. (1991 A.D.) through the collective efforts, dedication, and unwavering support of the local community. Over the years, our campus has evolved into one of Nepal's leading community-based institutions, distinguished by its commitment to academic excellence, social responsibility, and student-centered education.

Today, Sukuna Multiple Campus stands as a vibrant center of higher learning that prioritizes quality education, practical skills, and career development. Having successfully completed the second cycle of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA), we are currently advancing as one of Nepal's seven designated lead campuses. This recognition reflects our continuous commitment to institutional excellence, innovation, and quality enhancement.

From the very beginning, our vision has been clear: to produce graduates who are academically competent, professionally skilled, and socially responsible. The journey of Sukuna Multiple Campus demonstrates how community participation can transform higher education and create opportunities for thousands of young people.

We have successfully completed the second cycle of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA), and Sukuna Multiple Campus is now recognized as one of Nepal's seven lead campuses, reaffirming our commitment to academic quality and institutional excellence.

One of our greatest strengths lies in our unwavering emphasis on educational quality. Academic excellence has always been our foremost priority, and this commitment is reflected in the achievements of our students. Every year, students from Sukuna Multiple Campus excel in university examinations and professional competitions, further strengthening our reputation as a center of excellence.

A recent example of this success was the outstanding achievement of Jeevika Sapkota, who secured the top position among students from community campuses under the Faculty of Education. Such accomplishments symbolize the dedication of our students and faculty members and demonstrate our ability to nurture talent and academic potential.

Beyond academic achievements, we have made significant contributions to Nepal's professional workforce. Every year, a large number of our graduates successfully pass the Teachers Service Commission examinations. Many others establish careers in civil service, banking, education, and various professional sectors. Numerous alumni have also launched successful businesses and entrepreneurial ventures, contributing to both local and national economic development.

Equally important is our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Scholarship programs receive high institutional priority at Sukuna Multiple Campus because we firmly believe that financial limitations should never become barriers to higher education. Through various scholarship schemes, we have enabled students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their academic aspirations.

However, modern education must extend beyond classrooms and textbooks. In today's rapidly changing world, universities and colleges must prepare students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills and professional competencies. Guided by this philosophy, we have embraced the concept of "learning while earning" and integrated employability into our educational framework.

To bridge the gap between education and employment, we have introduced a range of non-credit and skill-oriented courses. Students enrolled in our Bachelor in Information and Communication Technology (BICT) program receive additional training in web development and digital technologies. As a result, many students are already earning while pursuing their degrees by developing websites and providing technology-based services.

The success of our IT programs demonstrates that students no longer need to wait until graduation to enter the labor market. Instead, they can acquire valuable work experience and generate income while continuing their studies.

Similarly, our management students participate in internship programs that connect them directly with industries, cooperatives, and banking institutions. Students who perform exceptionally during their internships are often offered permanent employment opportunities, enabling a smooth transition from education to professional life.

Students from the faculties of Education and Science also enjoy excellent employment prospects. Private schools, community schools, and educational institutions frequently seek our graduates because of their academic competence and practical skills. In many cases, the demand for qualified graduates exceeds our capacity to supply them.

Through skill-based training, internships, industry partnerships, and IT-focused non-credit courses, we have successfully transformed the concept of "learning while earning" into a practical reality for our students.

Recognizing the importance of practical experience, we have actively collaborated with local industries, business communities, and chambers of commerce to create part-time employment opportunities for students. We have consistently encouraged employers to provide flexible four-hour work arrangements so that students can support themselves financially without compromising their academic commitments.

Furthermore, Sukuna Multiple Campus continuously develops market-oriented non-credit courses based on recommendations from entrepreneurs and employers. Particularly in management education, our soft-skill programs emphasize communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities—competencies that are highly valued in today's competitive job market.

At Sukuna Multiple Campus, we firmly believe that education must be directly linked to employability. By strengthening the connection between academic learning and workplace requirements, we are preparing graduates who can compete confidently in an increasingly globalized economy.

Nevertheless, our mission extends beyond producing employable graduates. We are equally committed to shaping responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society. Through community engagement, social responsibility initiatives, and student-centered services, we continue to cultivate values of integrity, compassion, and civic responsibility among our students.

In recent years, Nepal has witnessed a growing trend of students seeking foreign education immediately after completing Grade 12. As an educator, I strongly believe that students should make such decisions carefully and thoughtfully. I encourage young people not to rush into overseas education but instead to focus on acquiring practical skills and professional competencies through higher education within Nepal.

Bachelor's programs that combine theoretical knowledge with practical training offer tremendous opportunities for career growth. Traditional programs such as Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) continue to provide valuable pathways to professional success, while skill-oriented programs create additional opportunities in today's dynamic labor market.

The narrative that Nepal lacks opportunities is misleading. Our country possesses enormous potential in entrepreneurship, education, information technology, banking, agriculture, tourism, and many other sectors. With the right mindset, determination, and skills, young people can build successful careers within Nepal and contribute to national development.

As the Campus Chief of Sukuna Multiple Campus, I firmly believe that community-driven education has the power to transform lives and societies. By prioritizing academic quality, practical learning, employability, and social responsibility, we continue to shape the future of thousands of students.

As we move forward as one of Nepal's lead campuses, we remain committed to our vision of producing capable, confident, and responsible graduates who are ready to lead in an ever-changing world. Sukuna Multiple Campus will continue to uphold its mission of excellence, innovation, and service, ensuring that our students are prepared not only for successful careers but also for meaningful lives.
