King’s College School Wimbledon to Open International Campus in Abu Dhabi in 2028

Abu Dhabi, UAE – June 22, 2025
King’s College School Wimbledon International has announced a major expansion with the establishment of a new international school in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Aldar Education. Scheduled to open in September 2028, the state-of-the-art campus will serve students aged 2 to 18, and will be the institution’s eighth international partner school.

The new Abu Dhabi campus aims to bring the distinguished academic legacy and British-style education of King’s College School, one of the UK’s most respected institutions, to the heart of the UAE. The school will combine innovative architecture with world-class teaching and learning practices, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to excellence in international education.

Aldar Education, one of the UAE’s leading education providers, will partner in this endeavor to deliver exceptional learning experiences tailored to meet the needs of students in the region. The collaboration marks a significant step in both organizations' missions to expand access to high-quality education across global markets.

Karl Gross, Managing Director and Director of International Schools at King’s College School Wimbledon, emphasized the importance of the new venture:
“Our ambition is to create a world-class institution that authentically reflects the exceptional quality and ethos of King’s College School,” he said. “This partnership with Aldar Education allows us to bring our proven academic excellence to Abu Dhabi, offering families an outstanding British-style international education.”

The Abu Dhabi campus will feature cutting-edge facilities designed to nurture intellectual curiosity, creativity, and global citizenship. It is expected to set a new standard for international education in the region.

The announcement comes amid ongoing shifts in the UK education landscape, particularly following a recent legal decision on private school taxation. Last week, the High Court dismissed a case brought by the Independent Schools Council (ISC) challenging the UK Labour government’s controversial policy to impose VAT on private school fees. The ISC had argued the levy was discriminatory and violated human rights, but the judges ruled otherwise, potentially impacting international student enrollment in UK institutions.

In contrast, the Abu Dhabi expansion represents a strategic move by King’s College School to reinforce its global presence and offer alternative options for international families seeking premium British education outside the UK.
