Citizen College, affiliated to Pokhara University, was established by a team of scholarly intellectuals and academic professionals with the aim at providing global standard education. It is a center for learning for academic and professional management courses. Currently, the college offers BBA, BBA-TT and BCA programs.

Hari Krishna Aryal is the Principal at Citizen College. Mr. Aryal shares his view with College Readers. Excerpts:

Why do you think that students should study BBA, BBA-TT and BCA at Citizen College?

Citizen College offers widely demanded and job-oriented courses. It focuses on practice-based scientific approach to teaching and learning process. It inculcates students’ academic proficiency in a practical way to produce ideal, civilized and adept leaders. It also encourages students to be innovative, creative and engaged in their workplace. We empower students to cope with challenges through innovation, leadership and creativity. Our students feel as if they were at home. Another equally important feature of our college is that we pledge supplementary courses that support our efforts in producing demanded human resources.

Our college is associated with Daraz, e-sewa, Khalti, Fone Pay and Cloud Factory for placing our BCA graduates. We primarily work on apps development, system development and programming. Moreover, we focus on providing soft-skills, professional skills, human values, ethics, morality, human empathy, dignity and integrity.

BBA-TT is such a course that students of BBA get, but a BBA graduate doesn’t get what a BBA-TT collegiate gets. The BBA-TT helps for economic development in travel and tourism sectors. In the context of global view, tourism industry is very essential although the entire world has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ultimate aim of education is to help learners achieve economic prosperity through job placement and entrepreneurship. How have you supported your graduates in the process of job placement?

Our motive is to produce job creators rather than job seekers. Still, the students, who do not want to be entrepreneurs, get support from the management in the process of searching for jobs. We have signed an MoU with many reputed organizations and companies for job placement facilities for our students. So, according to the need and demand of such companies, we provide extra training and additional courses to produce globally employable human resources. This could be true we have not seen any of our graduates dilly-dallying in search of job opportunities in the market.

Citizen College offers an array of syllabi of the Pokhara University. In your experience, what is the strength of the University?

Pokhara University holds a glorious history. It is the second largest University of Nepal after Tribhuvan University in terms of the number of students and the programs it offers. The University has an intake capacity of more than 40,000 students. Although it is the second largest University in terms of the number of students, it stands in the top position in terms of the value of syllabi since it offers globally demanded and latest courses. The University has proved itself to be excellent and unique in its academic performance after conducting online examinations  successfully during the pandemic.

How do you think that the teaching-learning activities should be like in the days to come?

The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us a big lesson that it is very important to utilize digitized technology for online education and examinations. In the beginning, every educational institution did not have apropos ideas as how they would take up their academic activities amid pandemic crises. However, we go used to using digital technology subsequently. In this situation, we need to prepare our syllabi keeping such futuristic unprecedented pandemic crises in mind by adhering to technological use and virtual teaching and learning activities including the conduct of examinations.

What suggestions would you like to give ten-plus-two graduates with regard to their subject and college choice for bachelor level?First of all, I suggest that all ten-plus-two graduates should study in Nepal. Similarly, I advise them to choose the course according to their passion and capacity. Students should choose the college which imparts education by analyzing the potentiality of individual and analyzing the global trend. Citizen College is fully committed to imparting globally employable courses in order to prepare adept human resources. Therefore, I suggest career hopefuls they should pay a visit to the college to acquire all the information about their extended courses and witness the best academic destination for their award-winning careers.
