Introducation
Sushma Godawari College, affiliated with Tribhuvan University, was established in 2049 BS. It is one of the oldest and largest colleges in Itahari, Nepal. The college is under the management of Peace Foundation which is the umbrella institution of Sushma Koirala Memorial Engineering College, Sushma Secondary School and Godawari College.
The foundation offers an array of course choices in Ten-plus-two and Bachelor levels. Among them, Sushma Secondary School offers Science, Computer Science, Management, Hotel Management and Travel & Tourism syllabi in Ten-plus-two level. Likewise, Sushma Godawari College offers B.Sc. CSIT and BBS programs affiliated to TU. In addition, Sushma Koirala Memorial College offers a 3-year program of Diploma in Civil and Computer Engineering, accredited by CTEVT. It also provides a short-term training course in Plumbing, House-wiring along with Electrical and Electronics training courses.
The college provides a world-class infrastructure and modern facilities, such as well-furnished and spacious classrooms, a well-stocked library with sufficient textbooks and reference books, computer and science laboratories, auditorium hall and cafeteria. Most classes are equipped with overhead projector with fast internet connection which enables teachers to apply visual communication method in teaching and learning activities. Besides, the college organizes a range of extra-curricular activities on a regular basis and Sports Meet, which is held once a year. As part of extra-curricular activities, it conducts indoor and outdoor games and sports, such as badminton, volleyball, football, cricket, chess, basketball, etc.
The college is one of the oldest and well established institutions in the eastern region of Nepal which has earned a wide acclaim for academic excellence since it has adopted modern and highly advanced teaching pedagogies. The college was established with an aim at providing quality education in order to prepare experts in various areas of Science and Technology, Engineering and Management. Moreover, it imparts education to career hopefuls from highly qualified, dedicated, long experienced and full-time faculty of teachers.
As the college focuses on project-based learning activities, it involves students in various projects concerning Information and Technology and organizes frequent field visit programs so that students acquire extensive knowledge in their respective field of study. Another equally important distinct feature of this college is that it provides education in both Nepali and English medium.
Currently, as many as 160 students are currently studying in Sushma Godawari College in ten-plus-two Science stream, 200 in Management and 150 in Hotel Management. Similarly, there are 160 students in BBS program, 144 in B.Sc. CSIT, 192 (48X4) in Civil Engineering and 192 in Computer Science. Additionally, it consists of 250 students from Nursery to Grade Ten.
