The institute offers an array of courses that include BBA and BBA-BI at bachelor level and MBA, MBA Evening, and Executive MBA at master’s level. Mr. Tiwari shares his view on quality, which is a requisite for management education; and growing reputation of Pokhara University not only in Nepal also in the global sphere. Excerpts:

Which aspects of Ace Institute of Management strengthen the ubiquitously accepted inference that it is one of the leading institutes in management field in Nepal?

It sounds good that we are one of the leading institutions in Nepal, but at the same time, we feel highly responsible as people have put so much trust in us. So, we are committed to keeping the trust intact and working hard in making the overall experience for students at Ace better every day.

The significance of management education is increasing in the course of time. Could you highlight its significance?

Management education has been a highly sought after area of study in higher education since decades. However, according to the changed context and reality, management education must be redesigned. In earlier days, most business schools set priorities to preparing students for managing operations and processes to maximize shareholder value, but today, we are not confined to that. First, we educate students to instill in them the value of management skills which give them valuable insights and experiences that can increase their chances of success when they graduate. That is, our students become socially, politically, and culturally intelligent and eventually they develop all types of managerial skills that are relevant to real life and help them succeed in their careers and life. Second, the business school experience provides access to a huge alumni network to students so that they can build their own industry network while they are at the business school.

Further, management education has played a significant role in transferring managerial skills to students which remain as their hard-earned asset throughout their professional career.

There is a growing interest in entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nepal is becoming more vibrant by days. Therefore, management education is growing in importance and popularity in Nepal.

In which aspects Ace Institute of Management is different from other institutions?

I would not want to make comparisons with others but I can elucidate on what we are doing.

1. We are creating a sense of responsibility of learning among learners and we make them responsible for their own learning
2. We are facilitating the students and teachers with co-creation of learning. We engage the students in co-creation of learning inside and outside the classroom.
3. We have created linkage with reputed business houses for our students’ benefits. And a wider network of our alumni community and two-decade long experience are other commendable benchmarks of Ace Institute. We prepare students not for examinations but for their life.

How do you acknowledge the performance and achievement of your graduates in global economy?

It has been amazingly encouraging so far. Till now, more than 3500 students have graduated from this institute which includes the bachelor and master’s levels. And our graduates have been placed all over the world, not only in Nepal. Whenever they have been placed, they are doing remarkably well and have achieved phenomenal successes in their career and life. You will find our graduates working in top level managerial positions in reputed organizations in Nepal and abroad.

Since this institution is a Pokhara University affiliate, what strength of the University is escalating its goodwill locally, nationally and internationally?

As I have been working with Pokhara University for the past twenty years, I can infer that Pokhara University is an exceptional university that offers Nepalese learners a wealth of life-changing course syllabi. Furthermore, working with the university is easy because of the system and the friendly people. Likewise, they are always open to the feedback for academic improvement. I feel very comfortable working with Pokhara University and I believe that it is on the path of giving students the best possible connections to a bright future.

What would you like to suggest Pokhara University for further improvement?

We have witnessed continuous improvement in the administration of the University in the course of time. I would like to suggest for the continuation of the established practices of the University. I would like to see the growth of the University in terms of programs and subjects. Moreover, the University should make a strategy to stop students from going abroad for higher education. In should also work to retain the cherished legacy of the University as a centre of academic excellence and set priorities to research-based education.

Do you think Pokhara University affiliated colleges are able to maintain globally acclaimed academic standards?

Pokhara University and its affiliated colleges are absolutely able to provide globally acclaimed education. Most Nepalese Institutions are much better than some of the institutions of foreign land. We might not compete in volume and scale, in terms of number, space and size but within our limits, we have high academic standards. As a result, our graduates are able to get internship and placements in world’s renowned organizations. They are equally competent in comparison with those graduated from foreign universities of top ranking.

Why has the number of students seeking higher education opportunities in foreign swathes not diminished? What would you like to suggest foreign-university-education aspirants so that they will continue with their higher education in Nepal?

Getting a passport and visa to your aspired country does not ensure good life, but one needs to dissect the reality covered by the glossy picture of foreign life and education. I would like to suggest them they make an informed decision, not the whimsical and uninformed one. Abstain yourself from landing onto a bad institution and squandering your hard-earned money and invaluable time.

Do you have something to share with career aspirants as final remarks?

Almost every aspect has been covered. There are good educational institutions in Nepal as well. So, students need not go abroad for higher studies now. Even if you are determined to go abroad, please search for facts and information; do background search. Find the reputation of the institute, its alumni, former graduates’ performance in career and other prospects it may ensure after graduation. Before your enrollment in an institution, analyze its available resources that you will avail yourself during your study period and after irrespective of territorial boundaries— be it national or foreign. Before embarking on the final decision, collect information as much as possible, gather facts as factual as possible, and do analysis being as thorough as possible to ensure confirmed success in your career pursuit.
