The college focuses on uplifting their career potentiality whilst making them competitive in the global market.
What are the distinct features of Citizen College?
Citizen College offers widely demanded and job-oriented courses. It focuses on practice-based scientific approach to teaching and learning process. It inculcates students’ academic proficiency in a practical way to produce ideal, civilized and able leaders. It also encourages students to be innovative, creative and engaged in their workplace. We empower students to cope with challenges through innovation, leadership and creativity. Our students feel as if they were at home. Another equally important feature of our college is that we pledge supplementary courses that support our efforts in producing demanded human resources.
The ultimate aim of education is to help learners achieve economic prosperity through job placement and entrepreneurship. How have you supported your graduates in the process of job placement?
Our motive is to produce job creators rather than job seekers. Still, students who do not want to be entrepreneurs get support from the management in the process of searching for jobs. We have signed an MoE with many reputed organizations and companies for job placement facilities for our students. So, according to the need and demand of such companies, we provide extra training and additional courses to produce globally employable human resources. This could be true we have not seen any of our graduates dilly-dallying in search of job opportunities in the market.
Citizen College offers an array of syllabi of the Pokhara University. In your experience, what is the strength of the University?
Pokhara University holds a glorious history. It is the second largest University of Nepal after Tribhuvan University in terms of the number of students and the programs it offers. The University has an intake capacity of more than 35000 students. It has produced over 100000 graduates. Although it is the second largest University in terms of the number of students, it stands in the top position in terms of the value of syllabi since it offers globally demanded and latest courses.
In spite of some strength of the Pokhara University, it has created problems in the recent times preventing D+ grade holders from getting enrollment in higher level. How do you analyze the issue?
Such academic maelstrom occurred because of some administrative difficulties. It should be solved without further delay by respecting the demand of students. In such a situation, the joint efforts of the University and the respective colleges can solve the existing problem. I am confident that the problem will be solved after the appointment of a functioning team.
You have been elected executive member of OPEN at the 9th Conference. How will OPEN move ahead in the coming days?
OPEN is the umbrella organization of private colleges affiliated to Pokhara University. The organization will create an amicable environment between the University and its affiliates. In addition, the OPEN is working diligently to remove all types of barriers to academic progress. It also plays a coordinative role among the University, its affiliates and stakeholders. Similarly, the organization will work effectively in order to spread the fame and recognition of the University in the international arena. In addition, the organization will organize seminar and a series of student-exchange programs in overseas universities.
What suggestions would you like to give ten-plus-two graduates with regard to their subject and college choice for bachelor level?
First of all, I suggest that all ten-plus-two graduates should study in Nepal. Similarly, I advise them to choose the course according to their passion and capacity.
