You’ve been given a sterling opportunity to escalate the renown of the campus as campus chief. In this regard, could you share with us your plans for the improvement of academic programs of the campus in the days to come?

We believe in team spirit and have been working according to the ethics of education. Since my appointment as Campus Chief, we have brought about many reforms and improvements in academic activities under my leadership. Moreover, we have managed teaching and learning activities that are smooth and regular. Similarly, we have been maintaining a techno-friendly teaching and learning environment by managing laptops, desktops and projectors in all departments. Similarly, we have constructed the ground floor buildings for economics department, which we already handed over to the campus. The upper floor of economics department is in the process which will be completed through public bid with the fund of national reconstruction authority. Similarly, the ground floor of science building is under construction. Beside these, we are planning to purchase science equipment for science laboratory through the fund provided by UGC and TU planning department. All these projects will be completed through an open bidding process.

We have completed most of the criteria for the process of acquiring such recognition. I hope we will be awarded a QAA certificate within the six months should we work with joint efforts.

As campus chief of a TU constituent campus, what convincing suggestions would you like to give the University for further improvement of TU constituent campus?

Tribhuvan University is the oldest and largest University in Nepal. It has been operating varieties of programs with the view to produce adept human resources in various sectors required for nation development. In addition, it is a highly recognized university not only in Nepal but also in international level. Still, the University has to bring lots of reforms in quality of education to meet the needs of the 21st Century. For this purpose, the University has to revise and update the curricula and to focus on producing skilled human resources that can be independent as well as can generate jobs for job seekers. Besides these areas, the University should focus on practical and vocational education to utilize available natural resources in the country.

Furthermore, another important aspect for improving our education system is that the University and the government should control commercialization in the education sector together. In my opinion, the state should guarantee the health and education facilities to the citizens of the country. I also suggest that every one, beginning from college chiefs to stakeholders, should show competitive leadership with true spirit of sincerity for improving the quality of education in the TU constituent campuses, which will eventually bring major breakthroughs in the education system of Nepal.
