Everest Engineering College— established in 2001AD— is one of the oldest and leading engineering colleges under the affiliation of Pokhara University. It is located at a picturesque swathe of Sanepa, Lalitpur (Shuvatara School, Old premises) — a quiet and serene environment, suitable for studies. The college has ample space for recreation, standard classrooms and seminar hall required for each and every academic and extra-curricular activity in graduate and undergraduate levels.

Arun Kumar Bhandari is the CEO at Everest Engineering College. After taking over its management, the new team has been able to bring a drastic change in deliverance of academic quality and maintenance of physical infrastructure. Currently, it offers BE Civil, BE IT and BE Computer programs. Excerpts:

You have an almost-two-decade experience in the engineering field in Nepal. In your opinion, why engineering education should be pursued amid a range of choices in bachelor level in Nepal?

In the context of Nepal, engineering education is essential for enhancing progress, prosperity and development of the country. Engineers can give true contribution to the embodiment of dream of the nation and the people. In fact, engineering education is associated with materialistic facilities in order to bestow on citizens unexpected happiness. For an instance, most developed countries of the world have made tremendous progress and development by developing engineering education. In this regard, for a rapid development of the country and to achieve prosperity, engineering education is inevitable. Engineering has various branches of knowledge such as civil, computer, IT engineering and many many more. These branches of knowledge have a wider prospect in the country.

Of late, AECoN has organized an education fair in order to bring engineering education on the limelight in Nepal. In your opinion, why should students study engineering in Nepal and feel privileged of embracing appealing careers in the future?

The engineering colleges in Nepal are imparting globally acclimatized modern and quality education in Nepal. Similarly, students are trained according to the Nepalese environment and the government policy which eventually make them adjust themselves in the development sectors in Nepal. Similarly, most students are teenagers that need proper care, guidance and guardianship. If the teenagers go to foreign lands for their higher study, they may not be able to adjust themselves as expatriates; as a result, they cannot achieve a success due to various problems in foreign lands. In this regard, we are going to organize a campaign titled “Quality Education in Nepal” in order to convince students and parents to continue their education in their native land.

Apart from some renowned engineering universities and colleges of India, most of the engineering colleges are not able satisfy the needs of inquisitive minds that are in search of qualitative engineering education. I can infer that only a handful of colleges are providing quality education in India. For an instance, once I had been to India for a purpose of purchasing lap equipment and found that they had cutting-edge laboratories just to entice foreign students which they never used for teaching purpose. It therefore indicates that the engineering education provided by Indian universities and colleges is completely mediocre.

As you’ve highlighted the significance of engineering education which should be studied in Nepal, why each career hopeful should pursue engineering courses in Everest Engineering College?

Everest Engineering College is managed and run by professional academicians and experts. In addition, the college imparts an education that is based on psychology of students. The college motivates students to get engaged in innovative practices and expand the horizons of creativity, for it has established a club for the assurance of their innovative steps and application of knowledge into real practice which integrates research practices in its regular activities. In order to run such classes the college sponsors the events. Such practices are so effective that a number of industrialists and companies’ representatives visit the college to observe innovative practices of our students.

The college is rich in physical infrastructures and available facilities for its students which incorporate sufficient space and modern buildings along with resourceful library, ultra-modern laboratories, visual classes and spacious auditorium hall for extra-curricular activities. The college strongly focuses on counseling for developing the tendency of learning and innovative environment of the students.

Moreover, Everest Engineering College bestows on the students constructive guidelines. There is a close relation between faculty members, management team and the students in this institution. Furthermore, we have been imparting quality and highly demanded education to meet the world’s ubiquitous requisites.

How do you acknowledge the performance of the Everest Engineering College graduates?

Everest Engineering College has been producing qualified engineers since its inception and the legacy has been kept on the stratosphere till date. All our products are involved in many sectors, which suggests that no one is unemployed. In the case of any unemployed graduates, the college recommends them to good institutions for immediate employment.

What suggestions would you like to give ten-plus-two graduates?

First of all, I suggest they should renounce the mindset that only foreign institutions can provide a quality education. In fact, Nepalese universities have been able to provide world-class education with a low fee structure. So, studying in Nepal is a great benefit for middle-class students. Since the demand of engineers is increasing in Nepal, I suggest ten-plus-two graduates (science faculty) they join Everest Engineering College in order to embrace highly convincing jobs in Nepal.
