Could you portray the present status of engineering education in Nepal?

Currently, there are 46 colleges established for engineering education in Nepal. Among them, 35 colleges are established with private investments. In addition, 11 are constituent and the rest of them are community-based colleges. There are three layers of procedures to establish an engineering college in Nepal. The first and foremost is that each prospective engineering college should get an LOI from the ministry for education. After then, it should complete all the criteria of the Engineering Council. After fulfilling these criteria, subsequently, it should fulfill all the criteria set by the University. Only upon its approval, an engineering college can be established. The college should justify itself in three level to prove that it is eligible to run engineering programs. Therefore, all engineering colleges in Nepal have fulfilled the criteria and met global standards.

In your opinion, to what extent have the Purbanchal University affiliated colleges produced human resources to fulfill the requisites of Nepalese market?

Engineering colleges should justify themselves that they meet the standard for running their engineering courses in three levels. In the case of Purbanchal University affiliated colleges, it has been producing skilled human resources to fulfill the demand of the global market in the diversified field of engineering education. Because of these painstaking efforts of the college and the University, our graduates have achieved outstanding successes in and beyond their native land. Therefore, it can be inferred that the graduates of engineering programs in Nepal possess high standard of education skills and knowledge.

In your opinion, why should students continue their bachelor education in Nepal, especially in engineering education?

Nepalese Engineering education is of global standard. Therefore, Nepalese graduates can compete in the global market easily with their competitive prowess. In many cases, there is a problem of equivalency to students who have attained an engineering degree from a foreign university. If they study in Nepal, they do not have to face the problem of equivalency. Similarly, today’s youths need proper guidance and parental care to bring them to the right track. In other words, when Nepalese students leave the country for higher studies abroad, they have to face insurmountable problems, such as accommodation, food and personal care. As a result, many students return to their native land without completing their education, which is a waste of money and time. Another reason adheres to fee structure which is comparatively low in Nepal in comparison to that of foreign universities. If anyone gets an international standard of education in their native land, it is not right to go to a foreign land.

What are the distinct features of College of Information and Technology (CITE)?

CITE is the pioneer and leading academic institution in the field of information and technology, established for the fulfillment of acute need of IT based professionals in the country. Undoubtedly, it has been imparting world class quality education. Moreover, the college provides professional training in the fourth year with the aim of enhancing confidence of our students in their professional careers. Similarly, we have signed an MoU with Japan for job placement. Not only this, the college has also shown outstanding results since its inception, and the legacy has been alive. What’s more! We organize workshop, seminar and interaction programs regularly. Regarding physical infrastructure, the college has well-furnished classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and a resourceful library in state-of-the-art infrastructure. Besides these privileges for students, the college ensures quality education impartation through a team of dedicated, qualified and experienced lecturers.

Could you possibly tell us about the unbeatable strength of Purbanchal University?

Purbanchal University has offered the best and updated curriculum in diversified courses. It has been offering newly emerged programs, such as fashion design by medical engineering and so on. Similarly, the University has maintained a fair examination system, which thoroughly takes the board examinations and publishes genuine results. The most convincing strength of Purbanchal University is its close coordination with its constituent and affiliated colleges. Furthermore, the University regularly revises the curricula to meet ubiquitous demands of the global market.

What do you suggest ten-plus-two graduates whose responsibility is to serve the country by completing their higher level courses in their native land?

The bachelor level education is a professional and career-oriented education. It’s a turning point of one’s career. Therefore, while getting an enrollment in the bachelor level, particularly in engineering education, students should analyze their aptitude, interest and commitment to the course completion with good grades. If the students cannot generate interest after enrollment in the engineering course, they are likely to squander their time and their parents’ hard-earned wealth. Eventually, I advise all ten-plus-two graduates to continue their bachelor education in their native land.
